Yesterdayday was first meat day

Edit: Today was fillet steak, OK so long as the piece is big enough to be sucked on without getting it all in her mouth at once...

Apparently babies are revolted by meat, just ask any vegan idiot

  3. There are two things all children love to eat - meat and fruit. All sensible children absolutely hate vegetables.

  4. That sweet little face made me chuckle! Thanks for sharing.

  5. My mother-in-law said that both of her children, my husband and his brother, would NOT eat apple sauce. They didn't like it. And that's after everyone said that any baby would eat apple sauce. She said their favorite thing was puréed meat ;)

  6. Hmmm...having fed my infant raw cow's milk and egg yolks from 3 months on, followed by grassfed pureed meats (cooked, sorry to the raw paleo crowd), I can tell you that humans are little carnivores! Meat and green veggies swimming in raw pastured butter is dinner most nights now. He's 4 and has only had one cold so far, no dental caries. Seems to be working for us!

  7. The other day (at breakfast) I asked my nearly 2 y/o if she wanted a banana - her response (I kid you not): "NO. STEAK." Luckily mama always has steak on hand in the fridge.

Your little pooky-do is so beautiful :-)

  8. Hee hee. The steak was sufficiently exsanguinated that I binned it after the suckathon rather than stealing it back for myself....

  9. Babies LOVE meat, and fat, (and ice cream ;-))

My 8 month old was stuffing his face at the chinese restaurant the other day, with (non-breaded) beef, chicken, pork, eggs, he LOVES chinese spices and sauces. There was a little girl about his age at another table who got no chinese food at all. Her adults opened a baggie of cheerios for her. Poor thing.

  10. When my brothers kid is round our house I always make sure I share my dinner with him. He's 18 months and despite my warnings he is fed the general crap that constitutes 'food' for children, biscuits, macaroni cheese, spaghetti, muller rice. He is definately not allowed too much fat says his mother. But this morning I had him eating grilled heart smoothered in butter and a little garlic, he went nuts, loved it. good thing he can't manage too much or I would have had nothing left. Same response with liver, bacon and onions. Same again with omelette covered in cheese. Now when he's round he comes straight to me for food, he even looks at me before eating anything given to him as though to see if I've got anything better than the rich tea his mother has just given him with his aptamil. Sigh.

  11. mherzog,

What, no pictures of dead vegan children or pictures of their parents in prison? Shame on you.

  13. What a pretty boy! But you're bringing up that child all wrong. Next thing you know, he'll be demanding pate de foie grasse.

  14. Nice cam Big Whiskey. Bit weird to have daylight when it's bedtime here. The wonders of realtime cams around the world...

Valda, bad enough losing a chunk of steak to her. You are just too right about the foie grasse...

  15. Have you ever heard of adults "pre-chewing" food before feeding it to babies? I understand this is common in some cultures.

  16. @Verimius,

David Suzuki mentioned feeding his baby this way when he had no access to normal baby food in one of his books. He just chewed up some regular food and dribbled into the babies mouth. The baby seemed quite happy.

  17. Living in the sub-tropics it is a bit of a shock to see natural milky white northern European skin. Even in mid winter our UV levels are higher than Glasgow in summer. The result is a lot of skin cancers and leathery skin but low levels of MS and schizophrenia.

  18. Just a pity it was not raw meat.
