Not sure what to make of this. Two virologists I hadn't heard of before said we cannot be sure that we'll enter rather harmless endemic state after Omicron wave. Supposedly, Omicron infection only results in partial immunity to Delta, so Delta may return (quite the opposite of what I've read elsehwere), and future variants may be more dangerous than Omicron (what isn't brought up here is the concern about recombination, i.e. incorporation of some of Delta's nastier features into Omicron).
Similar to article linked above but is mostly about historical flu pandemics that turned deadlier in their second or third year. Didn't know about that.
This might be of immediate interest to you Brits—appears to be some sort of survey, expiring the 16th. Saw it linked on Facebook; some of the commenters warn to read the questions very carefully, as they are somewhat misleading.
Even though I'm an American living in the US, it let me complete the survey. Interestingly, it asked where I live but at no point did it say anything about being a UK citizen in order to complete the survey. So hey, everybody, pitch in! It definitely has a pro-vaccine slant ('Thinking about yourself, your colleagues, your staff or care providers who are hesitant to get vaccinated, do you believe there are other steps (other than those set out in the original consultation) the government and the health and social care sector could take to increase vaccine uptake?'). But some of the questions seem to be honestly asking for opinions.
"Revoking vaccination as a condition of deployment across all health and social care...
"The aim of this consultation is to seek views on government’s intention to revoke provisions within the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 (as inserted by the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021 and the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) (No.2) Regulations 2022) (collectively referred to as ‘the regulations’).
"These regulations place requirements on health and social care providers relating to the vaccination of workers against COVID-19 and, in the case of care homes, individuals entering the care home premises."
Regarding the survey, I gave my name and email address. I declared my ethnicity as "Older American While Male of Scottish and Anglo-French descent". Oops, I now notice I spelled White wrong.
I printed out my survey, but none of the buttons I clicked showed up in the print. Interesting.
Bob—same for me, on the saved PDF none of the radio buttons showed but the text I entered did. It was interesting trying to translate the NHS bureaucratic lingo into American.
I don't know if it was an oversight on their part that they didn't limit respondees to UK citizens or not.
Alex Berenson on a Hong-Kong-based study that shows Chinese inactivated vaccine results in much better T-cell response. I've only read his story not the study yet:
And then some...
