If you've not read his blog before, now would be a good time to start.

You need to get calories from somewhere, should it be from carbohydrate or fat?

The link "The complete and unifying explanation of human evolution" appears to point to https://draft.blogger.com/#

Bugger. Blogger has done this to me before. Fixed now. Enjoy. Thanks both.

Interesting - I am attracted to the 'seaside ape' narrative - for explaining how we began to walk on two feet. A seaside ape that could use primitive tools to crack open shellfish would open up an evolutionary niche. Once man has tools - then hunting large animals in land becomes possible.
One bit I think of is once we have tools - the demands for our teeth change - evolution would follow.
Need to finish up on my time machine so I can check out these theories..
The link "Superoxide activates mitochondrial uncoupling proteins" does not link to anything.
Thanks Jay, fixed now. There are certain quirks to the current blogger software I'm forgetful about. They've debugged it a lot since it was new but not completely.

Complete??
Isn't the question of importance of DHA to brain evolution and whether this occasioned essential reliance on aquatic food, from lakeside maybe, still an open and unsolved question?
Apart from origin of language, bipadalism and everything else that made us human, that is.
No. Mammoths are full of ALA, with very little LA. DHA is easily synthesised in luxurious amounts from ALA, unless you take your dietary advice from the lipid hypothesis! There is no dietary need for DHA if you live on elephant fat.

If you find any I'll have a couple too

Hippos consume about 150kg of grass/day/hippo and probably have high ala%
Whispered:(but I cannot find any info about their nutritional profile. )
Not all of the macropods are in peril

I would consider a hippoburger

Ok, we can set up a burger restaurant in Columbia. It will also provide employment for ex-narco types. But it should be pop-up as once we've eaten that unwanted population of hippos*, supply will dry up. We should not expand into their natural habitats.
Is pastured beef all that different from mammoth or hippo?
* as an aside, what about the THC content of meat from hippos that have roamed former cannabis plantations? obstacle or perk for this business?
No croissants? But they so delicious. We must have evolved eating them.
How about a hippo patty in a croissant?
