Life (37) Just a gif of complex I

If we take the complex I from the doohickey paper

and also the mirror image of complex I from the water channels paper

and highlight the important bits, we get this

which can be rearranged to give this

which animates as a gif to show how the change in the doohickey, induced by electron transfer to CoQ, is associated with the protonation (yellow cross proton) of an amino acid in the NuoH/Nqo8 water channel:

and then we can add in the orange-crossmarked pumped protons like this:

This story explains the simple translocation of the three protons through the three antiporter-like subunits but gives us no insight as to how the fourth proton might be translocated.

And trying to reverse engineer the doohickey-NuoH water channel seems like the best chance of guessing at what happened as an intermediate process between using a geothermal proton gradient and generating a metabolic proton gradient. Each step must be immediately beneficial to early LUCA.

Off-topic, just wondering what people are thinking about this new mRNA development: https://twitter.com/jchilders98/status/1732872060253163526/history

(Peter, sincere apologies for hijacking the replies, but. this just got me.)

Cavenewt,

"Instead of making the intended spike protein, these tiny mistranslational slip-ups create … other things. Other kinds of proteins. New ones.
And there’s no way at all to predict what kind of protein it will create. It’s stochastic (completely random).

The ‘vaccine’ creates stochastic proteins one third of the time. In one-third of cells, not people, like the Telegraph again mis-reported. There are trillions of mRNA packages in each shot. So — unless I’m missing something — what the study is saying, without actually saying it, is that this is happening inside every single jab recipient."

- This is beyond terrifying. it's literally on the level of a distopian Japanese manga/anime horror plot.
the fact that people like my mum who is a doctor were *made* to get this jab, repeatedly, without knowing what was actually in the syringe makes me angry to a degree that words fail me. I'm an ex-israeli, most family still live there - and you couldn't enter a bleeding shopping center without proof of vaccination.
On the USA side, me, husband and our kids are the only unvaccinated people in our entire extended family. All our neighbours got the jab. A few have already had severe side effects.

also, there's this: (from https://archive.ph/sJ3ic liked in the article)

“This technology is amazing and it’s going to be revolutionary as a new medicine platform for all sorts of things, but we’ve just made it a whole lot safer going forward,” Professor Anne Willis, Director of the MRC Toxicology Unit told reporters.
*“Ribosomes are somehow sensing the modified RNAs, but the Covid vaccines are very, very safe and very, very efficacious.*
“But there are decoding issues with this technology that can cause stalling and frameshifting and we can get cellular immunity to these peptides after vaccination.”
However, *she adds it is very exciting that there is a way to fix the issue*, which “massively de-risks this platform going forward”.

exciting, is it.
so was the holocaust. well. for one of the sides, anyway.

I really, really hope that i get to live long enough to see the day that the courts get hold of these people.

cave and lapis,

I was worried by the vaccines when I thought they were confined to the site of injection. My wife is triple jabbed. I try not to think about this. I could call this denial but I doubt any of us can do anything about it. I have no idea how big a problem it will be. Sigh.

I had the Moderna vaccine--and 3 boosters. Suddenly, at age 82, I developed an allergy to tree nuts. Developing an allergy at my age is considered extremely rare.

When I mentioned this to my excellent endocrinologist (I have Hashimoto's), he immediately said, 'The COVID vaccine.' He explained that the practice (5 endocrinologists) have seen a number of immune-related "odd' problems among patients who never had COVID but have had the vaccine.

@cavenewt and all

The key bit to realize, it is not just this vaccine. There has been a large change in Western institutions - technically is should be call fascism (but the term is often misused). We can no longer hope to rely on these institutions to look out for public health.

But there is more. Everyone is looking for the latest life-hack trying to cheat fate - and lots of people want to profit from selling false hopes. But life-hacks-gone-wrong account for a huge amount of death.

Convenience foods appear to be causative of T2D - the leading distal-cause-of-death. Half of the drugs that get to market - are pulled due to safety.

If we insist on cheating fate by grabbing these life-hacks(most fit in the category of transhumanism) we can expect shorter lives on average.

If I come down with sepsis, I'm glad to have antibiotics available - but this trend to modify human life on a whim - to eat junk food in order to avoid being inconvenienced to cook - Drug kids so they don't have to experience the stress of becoming adults - drug adults, so they don't have to experience the pain of life and/or correct bad choices - the result is the destruction of the values that make up our cultures.

It has become rare to find people comfortable being in their own skin - this crescendo in attempts to modify the human condition of life is quite troubling.

Peter, same here. Denial seems preferable to endless worry about something I can do nothing about. My mum is doing ketogenic carnivore with me - and beyond that - i don't see what can be done. Sigh indeed
Also, the complex one story in the last two posts is super super interesting! it's way above my level, but it made me read a couple of interesting papers and marvel at just how insanely cool this stuff is. It's so cool to read about complex one and actually have a visual image for how it might work and how the protons gradient is created - thank you so much for writing these posts! <3

Cave - sorry to hear about your brother :( I can't imagine how many deaths this thing caused/helped along

As to the article - from where I'm standing, it seems like the man is spot on. Sometimes bias just aligns with truth ‍♀️ (Or my own bias? ).

Side note, but the first time i've encountered the term "frameshift" was in 2003 - in the title of a side project album by Dream Theater's James LaBrie. Metal musicians are *nerds* Who else would literally write a music album about genetics! (No idea about scientific accuracy though!)

"public health officials worldwide are pretty much not only ignoring these safety issues, but actively denying them, is an obvious breach of trust. Which the public seems happy to ignore, so far."

It seems to me that everything was done to avoid safety testing as much as possible.

Also, I wonder why the FDA asked to only release the documents it relied upon to license the jab after 75 years. They didn't get it - but they tried.
I can't imagine that the fact that money was to be made by everyone involved had any bearing on this issue at all whatsoever.

And the public not only ignored the issues - but actively pressured anyone skeptical about the jab. If you were even mildly skeptical - you were better off not saying it out loud in polite society They are still busy defending it.

Karl - it seems to me that the neo-"foods" (as in, plants and derivatives - oils and sugar) are the cause of a significant portion of the insanity.
I've read/listened to more stories than I can shake a stick at from people that healed serious mental disorders with keto/carnivore. People like Brett Lloyd on YT come to mind - and there's a lot more like him out there. I've definitely experienced this myself, even if not quite to the same degree.

Thank you everyone for the thought provoking posts. Reading this blog and the comments is such a pleasure.
